The “6th Annual Conference of the Euro-Mediterranean workshop” will be held in Palazzo Mezzanotte on 30th June and 1st July.
For many years now, this Conference has provided the most important opportunity for Italian comparison and discussion with the Southern and Eastern Mediterranean countries to monitor the progress of the Euro-Mediterranean integration process and to summarise, in a highly visible public occasion, the positions and proposals of the main public and private opinion makers in the area.
This year, the leading institutional representatives and businessmen in the Gulf Countries will be participating for the first time: it is essential to identify and initiate new forms of partnership with them.
In fact, they are the bridging countries for small and medium enterprises from Milan and Lombardy throughout the “enlarged Mediterranean” area.
The main objective of the Conference will be to develop mutually beneficial projects that involve the new public and private interlocutors in the Gulf Countries, in the context of the priority sectors for the development of the Mediterranean area that include infrastructural and energy networks, logistics, technological innovation, information and mass media.
The “Association of the four motors for Europe”, established in 1988 by Lombardy, Catalonia, Baden-Württemberg and Rhône-Alpes, will participate in the Conference for the first time; based on a proposal by the Lombardy region, this association identified with the Mediterranean the priority geographic area as a main objective to initiate new networks of cooperation and establish new forms of collaboration.
The event will begin on 30th June in Palazzo Mezzanotte, with a plenary session, where a team of experts – leading political exponents, institutional representatives, business operators and prominent experts – will discuss area dynamics and the various future scenarios that could come into being.
On 1st July, three theme meetings will be held on:
- public/private collaboration in the infrastructures and power networks sector;
- communication, media and new information technologies;
- knowledge of existing tools for promoting and facilitating both trade and investment processes.
The conference is promoted by the Milan Chamber of Commerce (Camera di Commercio di Milano), in close association with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Ministero degli Affari Esteri), with local and regional authorities (Regione Lombardia) and with business representatives.
